One of the games greatest Wide Receivers of all -time will begin a new chapter of his football career this coming week, when NFL Super Star Andre Reed brings his 16 years of NFL knowledge back to the playing field in Tucson Arizona and the Casino Del Sol College All Star Game.
Buffalo Bills great Wide Receiver will put on the coaching whistle and begin to work with young NFL hopefuls on their routes, foot work, ball catching and field awareness. I don’t think these young men could get a bigger new years gift then taking instruction from Andre Reed -NFL HOF finalist and soon to be member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Andre is thrilled for the opportunity and looking forward to working with the young all stars who have been selected to play in the game. This has been a passion of Andre’s for a long time, to begin to give back to the game that played such an important role in his life is part of his dream.
Andre’s numbers have stood the test of time and he is still among the leaders of all time at the Wide Receiver position :
Reed ranks near the top in nearly all NFL career statistical receiving categories. He went over 1000 yards four times in a 16 year career, is tenth in NFL history in total career receptions with 951 (behind only Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Tim Brown, Isaac Bruce, Hines Ward, Randy Moss, Tony Gonzalez, Terrell Owens, and Marvin Harrison), ninth in NFL history in total career receiving yards with 13,198. Reed is also eleventh in NFL history in total career touchdown receptions with 87.
He also rushed for 500 yards and a touchdown on 75 carries. With the Bills, Reed played in four consecutive Super Bowls (1991–1994) and was selected to the Pro Bowl in seven consecutive seasons (1988–1994).
Reed set season career highs with 90 receptions in 1994, ten touchdowns in 1991, and 1,312 receiving yards in 1989.
A tribute to his incredible physical durability, Reed played in 234 NFL games between 1985 and 2000, the 59th most games played by any player in NFL history, including players in less physically demanding positions, such as kickers and punters.
Andre Reed has been selected to coach the Wide Receivers for Dick Tomey’s team this year and he brings a world of talent and enthusiasm to the job and in what might be the beginning of a second career in football. Who knows maybe there is a Super Bowl ring on the horizon for this great player who made 4 consecutive Super Bowl appearances with the Buffalo Bills
GO BIG ANDRE !
